DeepBlue Seas, a local musician, commissioned me for an artwork for his song's cover.
The idea was to communicate unrequited love and the dreary, death-like phase that follows.
Below are a few concept sketches I sent to the musician who wanted eyes in the centre of the artwork and flowers in bloom around it.
He loved the first concept itself and was partial to the look of collage art, so I sent him this artwork:
Soon after, however, a new composition began to form in my mind so I drew up some flowers and framed the eyes in a new way.
We found that the eyes from the first option worked better. After making the changes and a few text placement trials, this is what was finally put together.
